The PAOs Experience Sharing Forum, a Milestone for the Ethiopian Accounting Profession, Has Successfully Concluded

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The PAOs Experience Sharing Forum took place from 19th to 21st May 2025 which is organized by the Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank coincided with the establishment of the Ethiopian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ETICPA), concluded successfully on May 21, 2025.

The forum brought together concerning governmental and non-governmental organizations officers, accountants, auditors, PAO leaders from Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and South Africa, including Pan-African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) leaders and financial professionals from various sectors to exchange knowledge and best practices. Keynote speakers included prominent figures from the World Bank and local financial authorities who emphasized the importance of enhancing professional standards in accounting and auditing were participants of the forum.

Participants engaged in workshops and panel discussions aimed at fostering collaboration among Professional Accountancy Organizations (PAOs) to improve financial reporting and governance in Ethiopia. The establishment of ETICPA marks a significant milestone in strengthening the accounting profession in the country and integrating the region, providing a platform for continued professional development and regulatory oversight.

The forum concluded with a commitment from attendees to uphold ethical standards and promote transparency in financial practices, contributing to Ethiopia’s economic growth and stability. Stakeholders expressed optimism about the future of the accounting profession in Ethiopia that have a great contribution in UNIT AFRICA, agenda 2063 following this pivotal event.

At the end of the day, participants visited the Grand Palace and the new commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, an iconic landmark renowned for its stunning architecture and historical significance, in which the visit allowed attendees to appreciate Ethiopia’s cultural heritage including its modern design while providing opportunities for networking and informal discussions, making it a memorable highlight of the forum.
