The Ethiopian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ETiCPA) was established as the professional accountancy organization of Ethiopia by Proclamation No. 1372/2025, issued on April 16, 2025. ETiCPA is mandated to advance the accountancy and finance profession in Ethiopia, ensuring local relevance while meeting international standards.
ETiCPA’s vision is to be a trusted, forward-looking, locally relevant, and globally recognized professional accountancy and finance body in Ethiopia.
In accordance with the proclamation, an Interim Governing Council has been appointed by the Government, and a project office has been established. As stipulated under Article 41(8) of the proclamation, the registration of founding members must be completed within six months from the date of appointment of the Interim Governing Council.
Registration of founding members who should be Certified Accountants and with mandate to approve by-laws expedites a journey to earn IFAC membership.
Accordingly, ETiCPA hereby issues a call for registration of its founding members.
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent.
- Be a member in good standing of a Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) recognized by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), and submit a letter of good standing.
- Sign a commitment to take local professional courses (e.g., tax, business law) to be delivered by ETICPA.
- Pay the annual membership fee as will be determined by the Institute.
- Be free from any professional misconduct.
Application Procedure:
Interested certified accountants are requested to submit their applications using the attached template, along with the following supporting documents:
- A copy of your professional certificate
- A letter of good standing from your PAO
- Evidence of current employment
