Accounting Technician Qualifications (ATQ) Consultation Forum Held

On May 14, 2025, the Accounting and Audit Board of Ethiopia, in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank, convened the Accounting Technician Qualifications (ATQ) Consultation Forum in Addis Ababa. The forum aimed to enhance the qualifications and competencies of accounting technicians in Ethiopia.

Participants engaged in discussions centered on the draft implementation roadmap for the ATQ syllabus, focusing on international tax standards and public sector requirements. The forum provided a platform for stakeholders to voice their insights, ask questions, and offer constructive feedback on the materials presented.

This collaborative initiative seeks to align the ATQ program with global best practices, ensuring that Ethiopian accounting technicians are well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of the profession. By fostering dialogue among experts and practitioners, the forum aims to strengthen the accounting framework in Ethiopia, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic development and transparency in financial reporting.

The insights gained during this consultation will play a crucial role in shaping the future of accounting education and practice in the nation, which will be overseen by the newly established ETICPA.
