Addis Ababa, March 29, 2026 (Megabit 20, 2018 E.C.) — The Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia held a discussion on the draft amendment proclamation with relevant professionals, as well as financial reporting and audit quality assurance consultants.
During the discussion, it was explained that among the reasons for revising Proclamation No. 847/2014 (2006 E.C.), which established the Board, are the following: the issue of the Institute of Certified Accountants, which had previously been included in the proclamation, has now been established as an independent entity under its own proclamation; and the need to reform the Board in a manner that aligns with current developments and its mission, as well as to properly review issues that have not been effective from the perspectives of implementation and service delivery.
Numerous professional and legal ideas were raised regarding the draft amendment proclamation, and extensive discussions were conducted on them.

It was also indicated that the Board has previously organized consultation forums on the draft proclamation, and has undertaken studies that incorporate best practices from peer institutions in various countries, enabling reforms that will help it effectively discharge its mandate.
In the coming period, further consultations are expected to be held with various stakeholders on the draft proclamation.
