AABE Calls for Discussion on the progress of reviews of Financial Reporting and  Audit Quality to Combat Corruption

Addis Ababa,17th June 2025 – The Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia (AABE) emphasizes the critical role of financial reporting and audit quality assurance reviews in combating corruption and enhancing governance. By ensuring accurate and transparent financial statements, these reviews serve as essential tools in identifying and preventing unethical practices within public and private organizations by promoting transparency and accountability.

To address these pressing issues, AABE has announced a significant forum for audit professionals scheduled for June 23rd 2025, at the Great Hall of the Ministry of Finance. This gathering will focus on discussing strategies to improve audit quality and strengthen financial reporting standards.

Ato Fekadu Agonafer, Director General of AABE, stated, “High-quality audits, the outcomes of disciplined professionals in pursuit to code of ethics, IAS and ISQM1 are fundamental to fostering trust and accountability in our financial systems. We invite all audit professionals to engage in this crucial dialogue aimed at enhancing our collective efforts against misconducts, corruption and poor governance.”
